Team Expectations
a. You
are a student FIRST and an athlete SECOND b. The MCHS swim
team will follow the academic and probational guidelines outlined by the MCHS
Athletic Department c. The full Academic
probation policy should be read on the MCHS Athletic Department webpage under
“Student-Athlete Resources” d. The coaching
staff receives weekly updates on grades for each student-athlete and along with
the athletic department will always prioritize the academic success of our
student-athletes e. If you or your
student-athlete is in need extra assistance in classes or is falling behind
please contact me along with their counselor so we may help them the best we
can a.1st and 2nd
unexcused absence/tardy – a written warning
will be issued b.3rd unexcused absences/tardy – another
warning along with a notification to the parent/guardian c. 4th unexcused absence/tardy –
meeting with coaches and parents to discuss disciplinary actions up to
and including suspension or expulsion from the team d. All attendance issues will be handled
on a case by case basis, please contact me in advance at least a week before
for any planned absences in writing (text or email) and as soon as possible if
an unexpected absence or tardy (ex. illness) occurs, please be prepared to
provide a doctor's note e. Since
we are an off-campus sport, the attendance policy is to ensure the safety of
all of our student-athletes f. If
you are planning on missing a swim meet, you must notify the coaching staff in
person and in writing at least 2 weeks in
advance. g. Missing
a meet without notice could result in disciplinary action for the following
swim meet h. Missing
three swim meets will result in disciplinary action up to and including
suspension or expulsion from the team a. Practices
are Monday through Thursday unless otherwise b. Please plan on arriving at the practice AT LEAST 15
minutes prior to the start time, we will stretch as a team and be in the pool no later than our start time c. Every swimmer must have their own water bottle on deck and appropriate equipment; suits,
goggles, swim caps, paddles, pull buoys and kickboards d. Weekday practice times at Chabot Community
College are the following listed below. This will allow students to
attend any tutoring, doctor’s appointments, and study hall before practice. i.2/20 - TBD ii.Practice may change due to Chabot
College schedule e. Chabot College charges a parking fee daily of $3, please consider buying a parking
permit for Chabot if your student will be driving to practicepurchase a
parking permit.

Sundays via Appryse to see the current practice schedule - there are practices scheduled
during spring break and holidays, although they are not mandatory g. We will have weight room sessions;
weight room is highly encouraged for varsity swimmers and optional for JV the
weight room schedule is as follows i. To weight room sessions please bring
appropriate closed toed athletic shoes, athletic wear and water h. This is not club swimming. Swimmers and parents
do not get to choose what practices you do and do not go to. You are required
to be at ALL scheduled practices unless otherwise specified a. Swimmers
can continue to swim with their club team but must check in once a week for
team information. It is the swimmers
responsibility to get all information passed out. b. Swimming or playing
additional sports during high school is a privilege not a right. d. Swimmers
must claim “unattached” status with their club team once high school season starts. It is up
to the parent/ guardian and swimmer to take care of this through their club
coach. e. All
special circumstances will be dealt with on an individual basis between swimmers and coaching staff. f. Being
a part of this
team is a privilege NOT A RIGHT. Be ready and expected to make a full
commitment to your high school team. a. All swimmers are required
to attend ALL HOME meets whether they are swimming or not. b. Our home meets will be at Chabot; Chabot charges a parking fee c .If a swimmer is not
swimming, they are required to work or cheer/ support their team. d. Swimmers must attend
practice the day before a meet in order to participate in the meet. Under
special circumstances worked out between the coaching staff and swimmers
can you swim in a meet without attending practice the day before. e. After every meet there
will be a team meeting unless otherwise specified. f. If you plan to leave with
your parent or guardian, your parents or guardian must be present to pick you
up. They need to check in with me physically before you are allowed to leave. g. Make
sure you warm up and warm down properly at all times. h .Remember
that we are a team and that we are representing our school. We win with dignity
and lose graciously. i. Everyone is required to
keep our tent area clean. No will be allowed to leave after a swim meet until
the tent area is cleaned and packed up. j. Respect the coach’s decisions and
abilities, except in the case where it may cause injury to the team or
swimmer(s). k. Follow all rules of the hosting team
pool. a. We will have
buses to Chabot departing at 4:15 pm for 5pm practices, bus times for 6 PM
practice is 5:30pm - please see weekly schedule for
most up to date information regarding transportation All swimmers must find a ride after swim
meets and swim practices. Please pick up
your swimmer on time. b. Parents,
guardians, boyfriend/girlfriend, family, etc. may wait in the stands for
swimmers before and after practice. They can enter through the main gates that lead to the bleachers. At no time is anybody that is not on the
team to be in the offices, locker rooms, or pool deck. c. PLEASE be aware, Students MAY NOT
ride with student drivers on meet days or to practice. This is against Moreau school policy and will result in
school consequences for all students including the driver. If your swimmer does not drive themselves,
they must go on the bus to swim meets/practices. d. Transportation to off-campus practice
sites by private vehicle requires that the parent on file with the Athletic
Director office sign a permissions slip/note from both the driver and passenger
family. Students
MAY NOT drive other students without written permission of all parents
involved. Student drivers
must have completed the 1 year DMV state law of having their license. 1.Academics
